Open Space Committee Meeting Minutes -- 1/4/202
--Attendees – Eric Helfer, Patricia Greely, Denise Louis, Brendan Potash, Merideth Conners, Chris Mcshain, Alison Bowden, William Conrad.
--CJ Lammers, Conway School Project Coordinator discussed:
-General organization of the upcoming Holbrook Visioning Study.
-Points discussed:
-Establishment of a group of 4-5 members, referred to a “core group”, from the Open Space Committee to communicate with and assist the Conway students in gathering data for the upcoming study. Committee volunteers for the core group consist of Denise Louis, Brendan Potash, Patricia Greeley, Will Conrad.
-Suggested that meetings be held twice per month to allow Conway students to meet time deadlines necessitatedby the semester schedule.
-Responsibilities of the core group will be to helpfamiliarize Conway students with the stakeholder groups i.e. business organizations, conservation organizations, educational institutions, interested parties, town leaders, town events, etc.
-Town birthday event on January 29 suggested as a good way to meet with residents and other stakeholders.
-Results (data) from the recent Visioning Survey will be given to the students for analysis and to make recommendations.
-Group meetings: The first meeting of the core group with Conway students will be 1/10/24. Future meetings will be confirmed at the first meeting on 1/10 via Zoom.
-Visioning Survey: The survey received 284 respondents equating to about 2% of town population.
Sue Wright suggested that the Town sign on to the “Community Preservation Act” offered by the State as a way to receive funding for various town preservation activities. She mentioned that only 13 towns in Massachusetts have not signed on to it.
Next meeting date for the Committee is 1/18. Core group meets via Zoom 1/10.
