Burning Season

Burning season will begin on January 15th and will run until May 1 Annually.

The Holbrook Fire Department has issued regulations for people seeking permits.

Permit holders can burn brush, cane and other forestry or agricultural debris by obtaining a permit from the fire department.  No grass, trash, leaves, lumber or debris from construction and/or commercial land clearing is allowed.

          Other rules:

Burning must be at least 75 feet from all dwellings.
Burning must be done between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Piles to be burned must be small.
Fire must be attended to until completely extinguished.  Adequate water supply must be available.  All coal or remaining hot materials must be hosed down.

The fire department will issue permits on days with favorable atmospheric conditions, low wind and low fire danger. 

 Permits are available at 300 South Franklin Street.  There is no fee for the permit and it will require only one visit to the station to pick up the permit.  Any additional requests to burn may be done by calling the station on the day you wish to burn.  Please have your permit number available when you call.  If you need additional information, you may call the fire department at 781-767-2234.
