Marriage Licenses

A couple getting married in the State of Massachusetts may apply for their marriage license in any Town Clerk’s Office in the state.  A license may be obtained by doing the following:

  • Both parties must be present to apply.
  • There is a three (3) day waiting period before the license can be picked up.
  • Once filed, the license is valid for 60 days.
  • There is a Forty Dollar ($40.00) fee, which includes a certified copy of your marriage license.
  • After the marriage occurs, the officiant completes the license and returns it to the Town Clerk’s Office.  Upon receipt, your certified copy will be mailed to you or may be picked up in person.
