VAN DRIVER – COUNCIL ON AGING

CONSERVATION AGENT (Part-time 19 hrs/wk)

The Town of Holbrook seeks a proven Conservation Professional with excellent written and oral skills, and thorough working knowledge of the Massachusetts Wetlands/River Protection Acts, as well as local Wetlands By-Laws. Reviews applications and plans for projects and gives direction to applicants and representatives where needed. Makes site visits and reviews wetland resource area delineations. Attends Conservation Commission meetings, makes recommendations to the Commission, writes reports, and permits and decisions, including Orders of Conditions. Investigates potential violations and takes appropriate actions, including writing

Enforcement Orders and other correspondence. Inspects job sites and properties to ensure compliance. Assists the Commission in acquiring and managing conservation land and open space.

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field, and three years of experience in the field as a wetlands consultant, a municipal or other governmental employee working directly to administer the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, or a similar position, and/or any equivalent combination of education or experience required. This is a non-union position with a starting rate of $21.34 up to a maximum of $30.00 per hour.

ASSISTANT COLLECTOR

In accordance with Article XX of the current collective bargaining agreement between the Town of Holbrook and the International Union of Public Employees Local 151 (Town Clerical Employees), members of the bargaining unit are notified of the Town of Holbrook is seeking qualified applicants for a vacancy of the position of fulltime Assistant Collector. The following job is hereby posted:

The Town of Holbrook is seeking a skilled customer service-oriented Assistant Collector to provide administrative and technical work involving the receipt of money and the collection of monies due to the town in accordance with the applicable Massachusetts General Laws, municipal policies and objectives and the professional standards.

Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the collection, deposit, posting, and reconciliation of receipts. Oversees the billing and collection process. Process return payments and bank adjustments. Process Municipal Lien Certificate and Betterment release requests. Balance receipts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Process refunds, demands, and warrants. Utilizes strong customer service and cash- handling skills to provide accurate information and assistance to Tax Payers and other interested parties; in person, and over the phone and online. Performs various other tasks as assigned by the Treasurer/Collector.

Qualifications and experience: BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field. A minimum of five years’ experience in a municipal position. Massachusetts certification as an Assistant Collector preferred, but not required. Ability to become bonded.

Compensation: International Union of Public Employees Local 151 Grade 2 ($24.61 per hour), plus benefits.

Work Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m.  - 7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
