Assessors Inspection Program (2024)

Inspection Announcement - Public Notice

The Department of Revenue requires that every community re-inspect its real estate periodically. The state suggests reviewing a portion of properties every year rather than having a huge expense for all inspections in one year’s budget. As a result, the Holbrook Board of Assessors will inspect some of its property every year. In addition to meeting state requirements, the objective of this project is to assure the accuracy of the Town’s assessing data. This year’s inspections will be done over the next few months. This task will be accomplished by the assessing staff and/or their representative.

The field inspector will inspect properties that have recently sold, as well as new construction, building permits and a sampling of other properties. This inspection will consist of both the interior and the exterior of the property. The person will have Town identification with his or her photograph on it and will not inspect the interior of the property unless a person 18 or older is present. If no one is available for the interior inspection, a notice will be left on the doorknob requesting that the resident call the Assessors’ Office at 781-767-4315 to have an appointment set up to view the property interior.

The Board of Assessors urges the public to be cooperative with the inspector and understand that by assuring the accuracy of assessing information, the Town will ensure that every homeowner pays only his or her fair share in taxes.
